Oak is a hardwood that thrives in temperate climates. Due to its prevalence in certain regions of the United States, it is often referred to as American Oak.
There are two main types of Oak: Red Oak and White Oak.
White Oak has a light-colored veneer, and the core ranges light to dark brown. The heartwood of White Oak possesses high tannin content, providing it with natural resistance to insect attacks.
Red Oak, on the other hand, has a light to medium brown veneer, with a reddish-brown heartwood. Red Oak is generally hard and heavy, with moderate torsional strength, high compressive strength, and excellent steam-bending capabilities.
Most White Oak has straight grain, with a medium to coarse texture and longer rays compared to Red Oak.
Embodying the characteristics of American White Oak, Friday Oak showcases a beautiful combination of large, straight wood grains forming irregular streaks on a light, pale yellow background, along with a smooth, matte surface. This design is suitable for modern interior styles or for homeowners who prefer the Monolism style.
White Oak has a distinctive "barrel-like" cell structure with tightly interlocked cells, making it highly impermeable to water. Thanks to this outstanding property, White Oak is highly resistant to decay and rot, making it suitable for boat building, wine barrels, and outdoor furniture.
This surface is commonly used with MDF boards to create furniture such as beds, wardrobes, kitchen cabinets, wine cabinets, and beautiful decorative items.
